My purpose of this study abroad program was to experience the culture outside of Japan and to improve my English communication skills. I didn’t know the specifics of the program before I came here, but the environment here was conducive to achieving my goals.

First, I believe that my activities and studies at the university greatly helped my cross-cultural understanding and English language learning. The classes were not just about improving English skills, but also about Canadian culture and cross-cultural understanding. I also enjoyed the Halloween and Christmas activities that were part of the class, which allowed us to experience different cultures. Other activities over the weekend were valuable experiences for us. Second, fieldwork gave us the valuable experience of volunteering abroad. It was quite difficult for me in terms of listening and communicating in English, but I believe it will be useful in the future. There were also many activities outside the university that helped me achieve my goals. For example, conversations with host families allowed me to learn more about daily conversation and life abroad that I could not learn in class. Also, the guy we made friends with on MacArthur Island was very kind to us and helped us improve our English communication skills.

Thus, in Canada, I was able to learn many things through my university studies, personal life, and play. Thanks to the help of many people, I was able to spend my life in Canada without any inconvenience. I was also able to achieve my goals, and it was a very enjoyable study abroad experience.
